Stephen Curry’s Tattoos and Their Meaning

Tattoos are one of the best ways NBA players express themselves. The images have a wide range of different meanings, and they’re often extremely personal. That’s especially true of the ones on Stephen Curry.

Here, I will look at the Warriors guard tattoos, why he got them, as well as their various meanings. That breakdown will shed more light on the superstar and reveal the aspects that helped shape his stellar career.

All Ink’d Up

Many NBA players have a ton of tattoos. Some are covered, while others only have a few here or there. Curry falls into the latter category.

Rather than getting a lot of images all over his body, he only has a select few that aren’t readily noticeable if you aren’t looking for them.

That muted approach reflects his own humility both on and off the court. He’s never been particularly flashy, nor is he someone who always has to be in the limelight.

Curry is happy to not have any attention on him, which is why he has the ink that he does.

The First Four

Curry has four different tattoos on his wrists, and they all symbolize something important in his life.

On his right wrist he has “האהבה לא תבל לעולם אך,” and on the outside of his left wrist he has ” קרי.” Both of those are Hebrew phrases that show a connection to the Bible.

Curry is deeply religious, so it comes as no surprise that he has two tattoos related to The Big Book. Not only does it have spiritual connotations, but it serves as a connection to his mom Sonya, who has spent years studying it.

The long tattoo on Curry’s right wrist translates to “Love Never Fails.” It’s a sentence taken from 1 Corinthians 13:8, and it’s dedicated to his wife Ayesha who has the same tattoo in the same spot on her wrist.

That gives the tattoo two different meanings. Not only is it a reflection of his marriage, but it also shows his faith. Curry’s tattoo reveals spirituality in a way that ties into his own personal love for his family.

The other image is simply Curry’s last name in Hebrew. It’s not as deep as the other one, but it still has a profound connection to the player due to the language and his passion for his own clan.

Curry’s two other wrist tattoos are “TCC” above the number 30. The TCC stands for Trust, Commitment, and Care. Those are three aspects he always tries to emulate in his own life.

The 30 is his jersey number, working as a subtle nod to his own basketball career and how much he’s done in the NBA.

Bicep and Ring Finger

From there, the sharpshooter has three other tattoos. The first is a “><” symbol on the inside of his left bicep, while the second is the word “Woe” on his right. These are two other tattoos that he shares with his wife, and are another nod to his personal connection to his family.

Both have a religious connection too. The symbols link back to the verse John 3:30, which reads “He must become greater; I must become less.” This meaning is another call out to God, reflecting how Curry let Him into his life.

From there, Curry also has a capital “A” on the inside of his ring finger. That’s yet another tattoo for his wife, Ayesha.

What Will We See Next?

Curry is not the most tatted player in the NBA. Even so, the ones he does have all hold a place in his heart. There’s no telling what he might get next, or if he’s going to get more, but there’s no doubt he only gets new ink when it means something special.
